For those of us who are native Floridians, we remember 30+ year ago Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs parks. Over time Disney “took over,” and the parks closed. We were happy to hear that the Cypress Gardens area was being used for a new theme park. It will soon be home to the very popular and interesting, LegoLand. The park is set to open in the fall of 2011. This will be the largest of 5 LegoLand parks in the world. The 145 acre park will offer over 50 rides, shows and attractions.
Parks highlights will include: “City – featuring a Driving School where children earn their first “driver’s license;” families compete on Fun Town Fire Academy – a competitive ride that challenges families to get a fire truck from one side to another and put out a faux fire; Imagination Zone – where children can build on their imaginations and race cars against each other; DUPLO Factory Tour – a first hand look at how LEGO featuring an indoor/outdoor rollercoaster taking guests on a ride in and out of a castle where a dragon defends his treasure and Dino Island – where guests take a trip to prehistoric times and experience their first “thrill” ride. Retail and dining areas include The Big Shop, one of the largest LEGO retail stores in the country and the Garden Restaurant where tasty homemade soups and sandwiches will be served.
Alongside LegoLand you will have the chance to experience many other attractions including the SeaLife Aquarium, the London Eye Ferris Wheel and Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Of course throughout the park you will get to experience eye popping statues constructed out of those familiar, colorful plastic blocks so many have grown to love…legos.
